These dogs are characterized by a stocky body, powerful legs and distinctive Mastiff-type muzzle. Their early predecessors were aggressive and violent dogs, but these traits have been completely eliminated over the last century, and manifestations of violence can only arise from improper handling or breeding. These dogs are well suited for apartment life. English species cannot tolerate heat, and they are better off in countries with not too warm climatic conditions.
