This breed can be recognized by a massive short-faced head, wide shoulders and sturdy limbs. The weight of these dogs varies from 50 to 55 pounds; the shoulder height is between 12 and 14 inches. The eyes are set low down in the scull and as wide apart as possible. Ears are rose-shaped and set high in the head. The muzzle should be very short, broad and turned upward. The teeth are very strong; the tusks should be wide apart. The body of this breed should be capacious, stout and muscular, with well-rounded ribs and full sides.
