This breed is good for those people who need a faithful friend and companion. The breed requires a lot of human attention and love to be happy. Some English Bulldogs can be a bit dominating and need an owner who knows how to display strong leadership and understands alpha canine behavior.

Therefore the dogs require early socialization so as to make the dog obedient. The bulldog must understand it's "place" in the human pack otherwise it can become difficult to handle. On the whole, these dogs are nice to people as well as reliable with all people. This breed is good with family pets, but some can be scrappy with strange dogs.

As the coat is rather short the dogs are also very cold sensitive. Mothers usually have problems when delivering the puppies as the latter have broad heads and they are often delivered by caesarian section because of it. The digestive system of the dog is very active and may be offensive to people with sensitive noses. As with many other dogs, there are also hip and knee problems. All Bulldogs are also susceptible to skin infections.
